President Obama Nominates Progressive Ideologue to the U.S Supreme Court!!

TRENTON – On Monday, May 10, President Obama announced his nomination of Elena Kagan to replace Justice John Paul Stevens on America’s highest court. While many voices are opposing Kagan’s confirmation, for a variety of reasons, we are most concerned about her apparently progressive stance on pro-life and pro-family issues.

“The Supreme Court holds enormous power over the continual evolution of American culture, which has been used in the past for both good and evil,” stated Len Deo, founder and president of the New Jersey Family Policy Council. “It was the Supreme Court that ended the harmful racial segregation of public schools in Brown vs. Board of Education, but it was also the Supreme Court that essentially legalized the wonton slaughter of unborn children—a slaughter that continues today, nearly 40 years after Roe vs. Wade. That’s why we need to be very careful in picking the next Justice.”

About Kagan’s experience, “Ms. Kagan doesn’t have the best record of supporting the family or the Constitution for that matter; in fact she doesn’t have much of a record at all. Ms. Kagan has never been a judge at any level, nor had she even argued a court case on trial prior to her recent appointment to the position of solicitor general,” Deo continued.

Kagan’s record as the Dean of Harvard Law School, where she tried to ban military recruiters from campus to protest the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, is also troublesome. This ban was overturned by a unanimous Supreme Court as unconstitutional. “One can’t help but be alarmed by Ms. Kagan’s preference for the ideology of so-called “gay rights” over legitimate constitutional concerns,” said Deo. “You have to wonder where her constitutional allegiances lay and why,” Deo added..

Other concerns were raised by Focus on the Family Action Senior Vice President, Tom Minnery. “Even with her sparse legal record, one thing stands out – her emotional and legal commitment to the [homosexual] agenda,” Minnery stated. “The preservation of the traditional family structure is essential. We can’t afford to have another Justice fighting to undermine it with support for same-sex ‘marriage.’ We urge Senators who stand for family, faith and freedom to oppose this nomination,” Deo concluded.
