Massachusetts Legislators Deny The People The Right To Vote On The Definition Of Marriage In MA!
|
|
Trenton- Today the Massachusetts Legislature denied the citizens ofMassachusetts the right to decide one of the most pressing culturalissues of our day, how marriage is defined. After a bruising battle, marriage came up the loser and so did the people. Their ability to voteon this issue was snuffed out by the legislature which has movedagainst the mainstream thought of the people of Massachusetts. Foistedon the people by a Supreme Judicial Court ruling, the intense lobbyingby the same-sex “marriage” proponents dashed the hopes of the people atthe very least to vote. The outcome of this vote underscores a prior statement by Len Deo,President of the New Jersey Family Policy Council: “Advocates forsame-sex ‘marriage’ are very aggressive and well organized and thisshould be a lesson to the people of New Jersey who support marriageremaining as the union of one man and one woman.” “In these critical cultural issues the people should have the right toweigh in and cast their vote, unfortunately Massachusetts legislatorsdenied their citizens that opportunity,” Len Deo stated. “Webelieve that this will galvanize both sides of the debate in NewJersey. Marriage is between one man and one woman only. Simply eliminating an entire gender from the picture and still callingit ‘marriage’ is not a mere expansion of an institution, but rather thedestruction of a core principle of society. It is a sad day anytime thepeople work that hard to secure signatures and move a constitutionalamendment and then they are denied by their elected representatives tohave the ability to vote on it,” Deo added. After the New Jersey Supreme Court commanded the NJ Legislature to act,the legislature opted to create Civil Unions which gives all the rightsof marriage to same-sex couples. The Civil Union legislation alsocreated a commission and guess what: the head of the homosexual lobbyjust happened to get appointed to the commission. Now same-sex“marriage” proponents are crying out that Civil Unions are not enough, and that they need full “marriage” recognition. From my perspective itsounds like a set up. You decide,” Deo concluded.
