Garden State Equality Creates Suspicious Numbers In their Quest to Radically Refine Marriage!
|
|
TRENTON: New Jersey citizens do NOT want marriage to be redefined despite the recent headliners for Garden State Equality’s obsessive push to redefine marriage in New Jersey which read, “69% of New Jerseyans say marriage equality is inevitable in the state, and 71% say legislators would have no electoral worries if they enact a marriage equality law.” Now, we know that New Jerseyans are sometimes characterized as “progressive” but the obvious bias of Steven Goldstein and Garden State Equality coupled with their recent poll numbers are clearly a very improbable prediction of the true voice and values of the people of New Jersey. What is amazing is how these “poll numbers” are virtually identical to the Garden State Equality poll numbers of over a year ago! If Steven Goldstein and Garden State Equality are so confident that the people of New Jersey want same-sex marriage then why not let the people decide at the ballot box?
This November, Florida, California and Arizona are joining the already 44 states that have allowed democracy to work by letting the people decide with either passing a state constitutional amendment and or defense of marriage legislation. Moreover, both presidential candidates Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama have clearly stated they are NOT in favor of changing the definition of marriage.
There is no problem with civil unions in New Jersey as evidenced by the incredibly low number of legal complaints, 7 out of approximately 2,500 civil union couples which is less than three tenths of one percent. The problem is with the extremely biased and prejudiced Civil Union Review Commission.
Other state-wide organizations like the New Jersey Family Policy Council (NJFPC) have likewise conducted polls that reflect the exact opposite results that Garden State Equality represents. The NJFPC poll indicated that 61% of New Jerseyans said that “same-sex couples have a right to live as they choose, but they do not have the right to redefine marriage for the rest of society.” Also, the NJFPC has confirmed that a majority of legislators in both the Senate and the Assembly are not in favor of redefining marriage. Garden State Equality continues to conjure up bias and confusion, where we now see by the consensus of the New Jersey Legislature and the nation as a whole that marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Therefore, why not let the 8.7 million citizens of New Jersey speak for marriage at the ballot box? It is time to let the people decide!
