The battle in New Jersey intensifies each year. With your faithful support, the New Jersey Family Policy Council (NJFPC) has stood for your values in Trenton for over two decades. I have experienced firsthand the assault against parental rights, the refusal of many elected officials to protect the preborn, and the radical redefinition of marriage in NJ, (although after a 10 year battle we did prevail in NJ only to have the US Supreme Court redefine marriage for all 50 states).
This relentless effort to undermine the family might seem overwhelming at times. I remain encouraged by the words of Winston Churchill, “Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”
Therefore, we must stay engaged and active in our pursuit of a state where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive and life is cherished. We must rededicate our lobbying efforts in Trenton. We must mobilize the diverse citizenry of faith-based believers of NJ to engage our legislators on these issues. We must continue building coalitions to strengthen our voice across the state.
To accomplish these goals, I am excited to share with you that we have hired Shawn Hyland to be the Director of Advocacy for the NJFPC. Shawn has been an ordained minister since 2006 and received the Guardian of the Family Pastoral Award at our 2017 banquet. I have known Shawn for years and traveled to Israel with him.
Before joining the New Jersey Family Policy Council, Shawn was the founder and president of Move the Earth – a ministry dedicated to reversing the trend of Biblical unbelief. His heart to build biblical unity and teach world view clarity formed a network of pastors across denominational, racial, and cultural backgrounds. He firmly believes the Church needs a spirit of unity and a sense of urgency to rebuild the foundations of moral truth in our culture.
Shawn also served as the New Jersey State Coordinator for Christians United for Israel. In this position, he has led large-group lobbying efforts in Washington DC for years. Shawn has been interviewed by FOX News, CBS, and numerous other media outlets nationally and statewide for his numerous ministry efforts.
Please keep Shawn in your prayers as he begins to advocate in the halls of Trenton on your behalf. We believe we can make NJ better!
