Gov. Murphy is sitting on an important bill that would save lives! Senate Bill 1126 is a bipartisan commonsense bill that requires public school students in grades 9 through 12 to start learning about the Safe Haven Infant Protection Act starting in the 2020-2021 school year. Please take a moment to urge him to sign it.
The current Safe Haven law allows parents to drop off their unwanted and unharmed infants who are younger than 30 days old at police stations, emergency departments, first aid squads and fire stations with no questions asked and without fear of prosecution. Seventy-two babies have been saved because of this law! Unfortunately, many lives have been lost because young, soon-to-be parents did not know this option to choose life without keeping their child existed in NJ. (example: Neptune, NJ – April 2019)
Tragically, schools are mandated to teach LGBT curriculum, yet our governor is slow in requiring them to teach there are safe and legal options in choosing life for their child.
Every day this legislation isn’t signed, we risk another tragedy and are losing the opportunity to save a life.
Please take a moment to email and call Gov. Phil Murphy’s office.
- It only takes a moment for you to make your voice heard through our Action Center.
- Once you have sent your message be sure to follow up with a phone call to the governor as well by calling 609-292-6000. Just ask Governor Murphy to sign SB 1126.
